But not this week.
I cannot say that it was a terrible week but time and plans ended up in disarray.
The first couple of days were fine. The kids got quite a bit of schoolwork done. After a talk with Sparkles we decided to pause her current math program to drill math facts for a few weeks. I think she just needs some one on one attention from me to help get her where she needs to be. Lately, giving individual attention is getting harder and harder to fit into our days…
During our poetry time on Tuesday the kids and I looked through the new poetry curriculum together from Blackbird and Company. We’ll be starting it this week during our poetry tea time and only working on it once a week.
Wednesday I had my second (and final) bit of dental work to be done. This time I scheduled the appointment first thing in the morning. The kids brought some math and writing assignments that needed completing. My chemically induced panic attack was just as awful as I expected. However, my always critical shadow self found the moment somewhat amusing. Chemically induced fear is just not the same
as being afraid. I made a comment to my dentist about my observation which led him into a discussion of “false flags” (deceptive government operations) and the lack of quality cartoons on television today…think Bugs Bunny verses Sponge Bob Squarepants. We also talked Shakespeare and Cervantes…
“I do not deny that what happened to us is a thing worth laughing at. But it is not worth telling, for not everyone is sufficiently intelligent to be able to see things from the right point of view.”
There is a special place in my heart for anyone who can quote Don Quixote. The book is so sad but it is my all time favorite.
Anyway, the dental appointment proved interesting. I mean, how many people have to walk off an adrenaline rush with a doctor quoting Cervantes…nutty morning.
Unfortunately, the numbing did not wear off before we had to go to co-op. So I had nothing to eat or drink all morning and went to serve in the nursery without any tea or food. My partner in the nursery was ill so I recruited Oldest to help me with the babies for the duration.
By the time co-op was over (at 3:00 in the afternoon) I was a little edgy and not really capable of thinking clearly. My head hurt and I was really shaky. Middle Boy’s art class had gone to a pottery studio for their class. I had arranged with the teacher that she would bring him back to co-op. As I was waiting for them to show up after classes were over I was told by a few parents that I was supposed to go and get him! I was really frustrated because no one told me that the arrangements had been changed and I wasn’t sure exactly where I was supposed to go to get him. So, my food and caffeine deprived self had a complete meltdown. Eventually, I was able to contact the parent that was with my son and she remembered that she was going to bring him to me…
By the time we got home I was done for the day. My poor husband had received a flurry of very frustrated texts from me so he picked up pizza (and Italian cheesy bread for me) for dinner and brought me a nice bottle of wine. He took the kids for a walk after getting home and I slept the entire time they were away.
Thursday and Friday were a wash…we didn’t get much work done at all. The neighbor’s kids were out of school due to illness at their school so I just let my crew have time off too.
